When displaying your gunpla, you want to use Bandai’s action base to make your kit look really cool.
Bandai’s action base is a plastic display stand for gunpla kits or other mechanic models.
There are different kinds of action bases.
In this article, I’ll show you how to choose the best action base for your gunpla!
- Action Base 1 for 1/100 Scale kits (Master Grades)
- Action base 2 for 1/144 Scale kits (High Grades, Real Grades)

Action Base 1 for 1/100 Scale kits (Master Grades)
Action base 1 was released in 2006.
- Appearance of action base ideal for displaying 1/100 scale Gundam plastic models.
- Adjustable angle and height of arm part.
- Width of joint part is 8mm, 9mm and 10mm.

Bandai action base 1 is suitable for 1/100 scale Gundam models (e.g. Master grades).
Action base 1 comes in various colors including black, gray, white, clear, and sparkle green.
You can pink your favorite designs from options including:
- Sinanju ver.
- Unicorn Gundam ver.
- Sorestal Being (Gundam 00) ver.
- Earth Federation Force ver.
- Char ver.
- Zeon Force ver.
and so on!
You can mix and match the design with your gunpla!
Action base 2 for 1/144 Scale kits (High Grades, Real Grades)
Bandai action base 2 is perfect for 1/144 scale gunpla models (e.g. High grades, Real grades).
I usually use action base 2 to decorate my kits.
Let me show you my action base 2 along with my Shining Gundam, my favorite gunpla!

↑1/144 High grade series gunpla has a tiny hole between the legs to connect with action base 2.
If your kits don’t have a hole, Don’t worry.
There are a lot of attachments that help you connect your plastic models with action base 2.
↑Your kit can be tilted to lateral direction like this.
The action base can hold kits firmly enough to make cool action posing.
↑The arm of the action base can be tilted back and forth, so postures like this can be easily accomplished.
Action base 2 comes in the following colors:
- Black
- Gray
- White
- Clear Blue
- Clear Green
- Sparkel Red
- GP base (Build Fighters)
Also, each action base can be connected to another action base, so you can display multiple Gunplas at same time.
Action Base 3 to display with background
Action base 3 is suitable for 1/144 scale kits.
You may think “OK, it’s same as action base 2…,” however, action base 3 has evolved!!!
You can insert your postcard into the base part of action base 3, so you can display your Gunpla with a background of your choice.
Space, moon, desert, ocean, sky, city, forest… gundam mobile suits can fight in various situations.
This action base 3 can be used like diorama.
Action Base 4 for 1/100 Scale Kits (Master Grades)
Action base 4 is perfectly suitable for 1/100 scale gunpla.
This is a new version of action base 1, and it was released in 2017.
A lot of joints and supporting parts come with the stand.
Also, the arm is thinner than that of action base 1, so it doesn’t interfere with the legs of your kit.
Action Base 5 for 1/144 Scale Kits (High Grades, Real Grades)
Action base 5 is perfectly suitable for 1/144 scale gunplas.
This is a new version of action base 2, and it was released in 2017.

How to Choose Bandai’s Action Base – Summary
Here’s my conclusion:
- If you have 1/144 scale kits, get action base 2 or 5 (5 is recommended.)
- If you have 1/100 scale kits, get action base 1 or 4 (4 is recommended)
- If you want to display your kit with background, get action base 3.
