The RX-160 Byarlant is a prototype Mobile Suit developed by Titans at the end of the Gryps Conflict.
As indicated by its classification number, its development took place at the Kilimanjaro base.
The Byarlant’s greatest characteristic is its flight abilities, which it receives from the tremendous propulsive power of the thermonuclear jet engines placed under its arms and on its waist.
During the Gryps Conflict, transformable Mobile Suits were developed which had flight capabilities, but the cost to develop them and their serviceability were major problems in their practical use.
Under these circumstances, the idea for the Byarlant. a non-transformative MS equipped with extremely propulsive thrusters, was proposed.
The completed Byarlants had a number of problems such as the lack of armaments and a very limited usage time.
This is because the atmospheric flight abilities were prioritized over overall balance but technically they achieved their goal for the mobile suit’s basic concept.
Additionally, the MS left a technological success since the jet engines could be replaced with thermonuclear rocket engines, making them usable in space, and subsequent suits were developed.
